Philosophy — What "Ancient Earth Futures" Means

The name holds a deliberate tension: ancient and future in the same breath. We take that seriously — not as branding, but as a working method. The oldest ecological knowledge and the newest organisational thinking are not opposites. They're part of a continuum -and illustrate how humans co-evolve along with all the other living systems on Earth.

The realisation that we each hold a key to access Ancient wisdom is not trivial. It offers us a place in the lineage of not just our own species, but those that came before us (mammals evolved from fish), those who merged with us (mitochondriae were once free living bacteria before they entered the body of mammals in symbiosis), and those with whom we are entangled (photosynthesizing creatures such as plants need our CO2 as we need their oxygen).
For us, working with the land and with communities directly connected with the land is a vital need. It keeps us sane. We wish everyone would have a chance to re-connect with the ecosystems they are a part of more often. Sometimes, modernity has made this very difficult. If you are working in an office in a city to pay for your family, you may see spending time in nature as luxury. But what if this re-connection was a right of all living beings? Just like locking up animals in cages away from their native habitat is obviously cruel, so is locking up humans in machine-like systems.
